Conflicting rulings in US cast (more) confusion onto abortion rights | DW news

Two conflicting court rulings have thrown access to one of the US’s most commonly used abortion drugs into uncertainty.
A judge in Texas has moved to suspend the long-standing approval of abortion drug mifepristone, but just minutes later a judge in Washington issued an injunction ordering authorities not to restrict access to it. The Justice Department says it is appealing the Texas ruling, and reviewing the other. Mifepristone is one of two pills used for medication abortions – the most common method of terminating a pregnancy in the US.
US Vice-President Kamala Harris was quick to condemn the ruling out of Texas for interfering with the Food and Drug Administration’s work.
